Swing For Kids is back this year, working even harder this year to support junior golfers as they grow in skill and character through this wonderful game of golf.
The Second Annual Swing For Kids Charity Tournament will take place on August 17, at Eastwood Golf Course.
One summer, I was at a golf tournament in Illinois when I met a fellow competitor between wash and spin cycles at a local laundromat. We chatted about the golf course and the stormy weather, before he shared how grateful he was for the Liberty National ACE Grant which paid for his travel expenses to play in the tournament.
Hearing how instrumental the ACE Grant was to junior golfers, I recalled another organization that facilitated my passion at the start of my ventures into junior golf. The First Tee program grounded my golf foundation in important values like honesty, respect, and responsibility that can be applied on and off the course. Realizing how blessed I was, I decided to give back to these two impactful organizations so they can support others as they supported me.
The First Tee of Rochester is committed to impacting the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life enhancing values through the game of golf.
The nine core values of the program are:
Honesty
Integrity
Sportsmanship
Respect
Confidence
Responsibility
Perseverance
Courtesy
Judgment
The AJGA Liberty National ACE Grant works to financially support junior golfers who aspire to play collegiate golf.
