I'm Taikai Morimura, and this October I'm playing in the AJGA's first Northwest Pacific Cup at Overlake Country Club, where 24 junior golfers from Washington and Canada play in a Ryder Cup format fundraising tournament.

There's no entry fee. Instead, every player has to raise $1,500 for charity, and the 24 of us are working toward $50,000 together.

The tracker shows $1,500 because that's the requirement. My personal goal is $2,500. Last year I raised exactly the minimum and didn't finish until the final week. I'd like to beat that by a lot this time.

Your donations go to Bridge of Promise, a Washington local nonprofit that runs programs for people with developmental disabilities, and to the AJGA's Liberty National ACE Grant, which covers tournament costs for junior golfers whose families can't afford them.

Any amount helps and is tax-deductible.

Also, please check whether your employer matches donations. A lot of companies around here do, and it doubles your gift.
