I am excited to take on a lead role for the second time in this year's Carolina Cup. This is a Ryder Cup-style event that gathers 24 of the best junior golfers in the Carolinas. Since 2010, this tournament has raised over $750,000 for charities such as CureSearch for Children's Cancer, the Carolina's Golf Association, The First Tee of Sandhills, Wounded Warrior Project, and the AJGA's ACE Grant Program.
My brother, Turner, co-captained the event for two years, and I thoroughly enjoyed learning under him. We were so grateful to be hosted by the Pinehurst Resort and the Country Club of North Carolina for multiple successful years. Last year I was fortunate enough to become the tournament host. Trying to add my own mark to such a fantastic event, we decided to move it to Eagle Point Golf Club, which was remarkable. My parents, the AJGA, and I are working hard to make this the best junior fundraising event in North Carolina and the US.
Through this competition, we will be raising money to help further the research and development of cures for childhood diseases that ail so many young children through the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation.
We will also be raising funds for the Harold Varner III Foundation, which is a driving force in providing affordable access to sports for children across the board.
Finally, we are supporting the AJGA’s ACE Grant Program, which provides financial assistance to junior golfers aspiring to earn a collegiate scholarship through competitive junior golf.
Our goal is to raise $75,000 for these wonderful causes. Thank you for any support you can lend!
